songpage2“Peace for You and Me” is an original song by Dee DiGioia and was written to perform at my first Caring and Courageous Kids assembly (October 2011) at the elementary school where I worked to inspire the children to stand up for one another when they see bullying. Some of the students from the school eagerly joined me to help record the song. Singer-songwriter Grant Bentley and producer David Frankel donated their time and skills to help this project come to fruition.

The lyrics offer a “formula” to show how our actions “add up” to help break the cycle of bullying! “1 plus 1 is 2…what-cha gonna do? 2 plus 2 is 4 … Peace forever more 4 plus 4 is 8 … This is getting great! The dream we all create.” Standing by and not approving of bullying is not enough to make it go away. We need to show we care by mustering the courage to stand up by saying something, or doing something, with peace in our heart. When we stand up one by one and stand together to show our disapproval of bullying, we show those who bully that we will no longer accept it. The song is upbeat and joyful, and the perfect song to get stuck in the hearts and minds of children to add a little more peace in our world!!! It became the featured song in the movie Which Team Will You Choose?

Lyrics by Dee DiGioia; Music by Grant Bentley and Dee DiGioia; Lead vocals by Grant Bentley; Additional vocals by Dee DiGioia, Cassidy Moyer, Kendall Lach, and Adriana Arellano; Recorded by David Frankel

Peace for You and Me” lyrics

I’ve had enough…of this bully stuff.

Here’s what I dream…when someone’s acting mean.

No more standing by…it’s time to let courage fly.

I’ll stand up for you and I hope you’ll try it too.

Let’s make a peace chain now.

I’m gonna show you how.

Yes, I’m gonna show you…

1 plus 1 is 2…what-cha gonna do?

2 plus 2 is 4 … Peace forever more

4 plus 4 is 8 … This is getting great!

The dream we all create.

It all adds up you see

In big and small amounts

Come grow this chain with me

And make your actions count

It all adds up you see

To make your actions count

Bring Peace for You and Me

Peace for You and Me

We’ve had enough…of this bully stuff.

Join in on our dream…when someone’s acting mean.

No more standing by…It’s time to let courage fly.

We’ll stand up for you…And we hope you’ll try it too.

Let’s make a peace chain now

We’ll show the whole world how

Yes, we’ll show you…

1 plus 1 is 2…what-cha gonna do?

2 plus 2 is 4 … Peace forever more

4 plus 4 is 8 … This is getting great!

The dream we all create.

What we do adds up you see

In big and small amounts

Come grow this chain with me

And make our actions count

It all adds up you see

To make our actions count

Bring Peace for You and Me

It all adds up you see

To make our actions count

Bring Peace for You and Me, Peace for You and Me
